Next Big Thing Blog hop

Last week my fellow Siren author Laurie Roma tagged me in her Next Big Thing ( so this week it's my turn. The idea is that I answer ten questions about my latest project (My Next Big Thing)

The Next Big Thing

What is the title of your book?

On Jason's watch, which is book two in my Paladin Protection Agency Series

How did you come by the idea?

Jason was a secondary character in book one, and by the time I was three quarters of the way through that book he was a very loud voice in my head begging me to have his own story told. I knew Jason was going to need a woman with just as much sass and courage as he did, and just to make things interesting I made Jazz into a werewolf, which meant she could totally kick Jason's cute ass if she wanted to.

What genre does your book fall under?

This is a paranormal, erotic romance

Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?

Jazz was definitely created with a bit of Rachel Wiesz character from The Mummy movies in mind.

I think Jensen Ackles would make an awesome version of Jason, but then again, I am somewhat biased thanks to many years of Supernatural!

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Can an unwilling werewolf and a knight in rather tarnished armor find a way to heal each other's hearts and make a life together?

Will your book be self-published or traditional?

I have done both self published and traditional in the past, but I am pleased to say that this entire series is being put out through Siren Publishing, who have been fantastic to work with.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

On Jason's Watch was six weeks from beginning to submission. The words just flew! Jason and Jazz had a lot to say.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

That's a tough question to answer without sounding full of myself, so I think I'm going to plead the Fifth Amendment on that one.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

I'm a big fan of paranormal movies, television and books. Lately I've noticed a trend where the monsters we were supposed to be afraid of started become the heroes instead. I wanted to revisit the origin myths and give the monsters back their fangs and claws.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

I love to write about heroines with spunk. They may be tall or short, thin or curvy, but each of them have courage and a strong will.  Jazz Masters is no exception, and I loved getting to write the curvy, soft spoken recluse as a werewolf with a chain of self defense gyms for women.

You can pick pre-order a copy of On Jason's Watch at Siren-bookstrand. It comes available for download on January 8th.

Writers I'm tagging:
Mary K. Preston

Starting this weekend I'll be starting a new tradition, and getting involved with the Six Sentence Sunday fun.  It's a six sentence sneak peak at what's going on in my writing world at the time.

He’d slept without a single nightmare. That hadn’t happened since the attack. He knew it was because of Michelle, as surely as he knew the sun rose in the east and eggs burned if one left them cooking too long... Shit! He realized he’d let his attention wander and grabbed a spatula, rescuing the eggs from overcooking. That summed up the impact she was having on his life right there, distracting him and setting his nice, orderly life off-kilter. He snorted with laughter at himself. Yeah, right, she wasn’t the reason he was up here, hiding from the world. He’d managed to screw himself up just fine, all by himself.
